Mosquito Lake School is a small, one room school located 27 miles up the Haines Highway, serving 14 elementary students with one teacher and two para-professionals.
The school is situated in the Chilkat Valley, about two miles from Mosquito Lake. Students have access to a common area (which is sometimes used as a gym), a greenhouse, an outside playground, and other rooms needed for a quality school.
After eighth grade, the students and their parents decide if the student will make the 27 plus miles to Haines for school, take correspondence, or home school. |
